Last week, Medical City Healthcare was able to collect 28,000 pounds of food and a donation amount of $32,500 for their second annual “Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows” food drive. The donations and the collection of food went to 13 different food banks and pantries throughout the North Texas area. Medical City’s contributions provided more than 130,000 meals to North Texas families in need.
According to the North Texas Food Bank, one in six people in North Texas are facing food insecurity. Medical City Healthcare is working to fix that statistic by having food drives where hundreds of its colleagues participate. They even had a food sculpture competition in which the winners received cash grants for their food bank of choice. All the grants were funded by Medical City Healthcare and its parent company, HCA Healthcare.
Not only are the healthcare workers at Medical City saving lives within their facilities but they are improving lives within our community. We appreciate all the work they do and are very glad to call them members of the Chamber!
