It is our honor to announce 2022’s Hero & Rising Star Award and the Small Business Grant Recipients. Each of these amazing women deserve this recognition and we know they will continue to inspire. Congratulations to our Rising Star, Hero and Small Business Grant recipients.
Rising Star Award Recipient
Washima Huq is the Executive Director of the Texas Trust Gives Foundation. Washima was a Business and Community Engagement Partner for Texas Trust Credit Union for 4.5 years before assuming the role as the Executive Director in 2022. She has a MBA in Marketing from The University of North Texas and a BBA in Management from The University of Texas at Arlington. In 2021, she was named Cornerstone Credit Union League’s Young Professional of the Year and received the Shining Star in Banking Award by UTA SSRE. Washima has graduated from Leadership Mansfield, and currently serves on several boards and committees in North Texas, such as City of Arlington’s Unity Council, Cooper Street YMCA, Greater Arlington Chamber Women’s Alliance and Asian Business Council, Texas Trust’s Community Unity Team, Mansfield ISD Superintendent’s Advisory Council and more. Her work exemplifies youth and diversity empowerment. She has used many public speaking platforms to address this cause, notably when she was a keynote speaker for the Inspired Women’s Luncheon in 2021
Hero Award Recipient
Speaker, teacher, mentor, and philanthropist, Dr. Jacquelyn Minor has trouble sitting still. “There’s this huge green and blue planet,” she says, “and I want to reach as much of it as God allows!” Jacquelyn has spent over two decades helping students recognize their gifts and abilities, and empowering women. In the Dallas/Fort Worth community, she has worked with numerous ISD’s, the United States Air Force Academy, Dallas College, Tarrant County College, the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of North Texas, University of Southern California, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Recently retired from a 25-year career in education, Dr. Minor carries her passion for inspiring others into community engagement and church leadership. This servant leader volunteers her expertise and resources with the United Way, Mission Arlington, Junior League, Forged Flowers, Helping Restore Ability, Girl Scouts, the YMCA, the Women’s Alliance, and many more. She believes the best way to cultivate hope, strength, and belonging is to help someone else—give freely of yourself with a heart to make another’s life better.
Small Business Grant Recipient
