Ten of the fourteen candidates competing for the four Arlington city council districts in the May 1st election appeared at a virtual City Council Candidate Showcase this morning. All candidates were invited, but four were unable to participate.
There are a total of eight city council districts in Arlington, four are contested each year and each member serves a two-year term. On the May 1st ballot will be candidates for District 3, 4, 5 and 8. District 3 is located in southeast Arlington, District 4 in west central Arlington, District 5 in the center of town including the downtown area and District 8 is a citywide district.
Candidates for District 3 include Tamiko Brown, Diana Saleh, Alixis Lupien, Dora Tovar and Nikkie Hunter. Presenting during the showcase were Diana Saleh and Dora Tovar.
Candidates for District 4 are Cheyenne Zokaie, Nehal Mehta, Billy McClendon, Andrew Piel and Anne Nwaefulu. Nehal Mehta, Billy McClendon and Andrew Piel presented. Cheyenne Zokaie had a conflict and Anne Nwaefulu tried to participate, but experienced technical difficulties.
Rebecca Boxall and Kennedy Jones are candidates for District 5 and both participated. District 8 candidates Barbara Odom-Wesley and Chris “Dobi” Dobson both spoke.
