Who needs normal when you have Fat Straws Boba Tea & Mochi Donuts!
Since 2002, Fat Straws has been making normal look boring in the DFW area. From the beautifully vibrant colors in their stores to their bubbly Instagram feed, Fat Straws has been making waves and showing that they are not afraid to be different and start their own trends.
Owners, Terry and Jennifer Pham, grew up loving bubble tea and wanted to share their love in a way that was authentic and new. Terry was raised on the ritual of tea drinking from a very young age by his grandmother and worked alongside his mother at 7-Eleven. He wanted to do well for his family and share his Vietnamese culture with DFW, but he had to make one more stop in his career before taking the leap. After his IT career came to end, Terry and his wife, Jennifer, finally opened their first Fat Straws location in Dallas, TX and they have not looked back since. Even with the challenges of the economic climate during the 2000s, Fat Straws was able to thrive and continues to grow between at least 15-20% each year.
When the world shut down in 2020, Terry and Jennifer pivoted to an even more community-focused business as they found digital and contactless ways to bring customers delicious food and happiness in a time that brought all of us anxiety and fear.
Fat Straws has a wide array of Chewy Puff Mochi Donut flavors that are crispy on the outside and beautifully chewy on the inside, as well as an entire catalog of bubble teas and smoothies. You can guarantee that you will only be met with the finest flavors and freshest taste because everything on their menu is hand-crafted. “It means we make our Mochi Donuts fresh every morning. It means making our boba fresh daily for the perfect taste and texture. And it means sourcing the finest ingredients possible – whether it’s Jasmine tea from Jiangsu, Tapioca mochi flour from Thailand or Swiss chocolate from Switzerland.”
For the past 21 years, Fat Straws has been the trendsetters not only for delicious Chewy Puffs and Boba Tea, but for creating a community in the workplace and showing other businesses the standard of caring for your employees and the community you serve. It takes courage to be different, and Fat Straws has truly made quite the bubbly splash.
