As we begin November, it is time to pay our gratitude to veterans and to their families. The sacrifices that they have made to protect our country are insurmountable and we will never be able to fully thank them enough for risking their lives. Within the Chamber, we have a business council that directly connects military veteran business owners so they can build relationships with people who have been through war, and the discipline necessary to succeed in the military. It is our honor to highlight just a few of these business owners.
Dr. Kenyon Godwin has been a leader in the community since he arrived in Arlington in 2007. Godwin is the owner of Active Family Wellness Center and D.R.E.A.M.S. Consulting right here in Arlington. As a local chiropractor and coach for businesses as well as individuals, Godwin is truly making an unbelievable impact that does not just end in Arlington but throughout the world.
Godwin came from a single mother household and saw his mother struggle to get good healthcare thus he decided at a young age that he wanted to be a doctor. As he grew older, he would soon find his true calling while serving in the U.S. Air Force. For 8 years, Godwin served as a medical Laboratory Technician in the Air Force and although he loved it, he found his true medical passions while taking a few college courses. “One of my college professors really drove me back to my calling of becoming a chiropractor,” says Godwin. Since then, he has never looked back and Arlington is much better for it.
As a small business owner, Godwin has found true success personally, professionally and spiritually. Thus he exudes that energy back into the community. Through his chiropractic work he is able to heal people from lifelong pains and injuries. So many patients have been relieved of their pain through normal chiropractic work along with some of Godwin’s holistic solutions that he has found to work for various medical conditions.
Godwin’s more recent entrepreneurial endeavor, which found its stride during the COVID-19 Pandemic, was a leadership coaching business to help people find a work-life balance and to find success in all aspects of their lives. Godwin was working on a life planner at the end of 2019 and it just happened to hit the market in March 2020. The goal planner came at the perfect time while people were stuck at home, giving them time to reevaluate their lives and trying to find the balance they have been missing for many years. Through this, Godwin was able to connect with individuals and companies to begin working as a success coach. This business venture has continued to grow and Kenyon is truly enjoying every second that he gets to “transform people’s lives.”
When we asked Kenyon what military skills he was able to transfer to not only his day-to-day life but to his businesses, he said, “First off, the core values of the military are Integrity First, Service before Self, Excellence in all we do, that is something that I can take with me every day of my life.” Some other notable skills he included are self-discipline, being a good leader, communication, customer service, thinking on your feet and technical problem-solving. All of these skills are an asset in the way in which Godwin presents himself and his businesses. He is also actively sharing these skills with the community and world around him.
Besides being an amazing and inspiring business owner and veteran, Godwin is very well known in the Arlington Community. He is a true community leader with his most recent activities including going to Eldoret, Kenya as a doctor to support the TotalCare ER Foundation’s Clinic. He is also the Chamber’s Immediate Past Chair, in which, his empowering speeches and inspiring words to not only Chamber members but staff, was a true honor. When asked about his time as the Chamber Chair, Godwin said, “I liked to refer to myself as the People’s Chair. I climbed the ladder from general membership to corporate leadership levels. I wanted to create an impact for all members and be as hands-on as I am within my own work and other community activities.”
Godwin’s future is truly bright as he continues to brighten the world around him. He has quite a lot of exciting things happening in both his coaching and chiropractic work.
D.R.E.A.M.S Consulting will be introducing a new program in partnership with Kingdom Factor. Godwin will meet with business leaders in a faith-based forum that meets consistently. The aim is to help one another thrive personally, professionally, and spiritually. This allows leaders to achieve their biggest goals with accountability, better manage their team, and make the best decisions. “I’m looking for like-minded peers ready to live a blessed life,” says Godwin.
Active Family Wellness Center is introducing Acoustic Wave Therapy AKA Shockwave. This new innovation is the latest advancement to improve conditions such as sports injury, joint pain, neuropathy and more. It is a non-surgical, non-medication solution for natural pain relief. It rejuvenates blood vessels, activates stem cells, regenerates tissue, and reduces inflammation.
We are truly thrilled to see where the next year takes Kenyon and appreciate all of the work he does for the Chamber. He is an asset to the community and continues to add value to the lives of everyone he meets.
Thank you for your service, Kenyon, and we appreciate the sacrifices your family had to make along your journey to become who you are today.
