The entrepreneurial spirit runs deep in Arlington natives and Beth Owens is the perfect example. After being unexpectedly laid off from a custom motorcycle manufacturer, Beth and her business partner, Reecanne Joeckel, decided to become their own bosses and open a marketing agency, BrandEra.
Beth has always had a passion for discovery and considers herself a lifelong learner. With a Bachelors degree in Spanish from DePauw University and a Masters in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, she was well-equipped to travel the world while first working in International Sales. “I enjoyed being right behind the entrepreneur. I thought I would always stay at the edge of the cliff but never jump. Apparently, I can jump,” said Owens, when asked how she decided to start her own business.
First leveraging contacts in the motorcycle industry, Beth and Reecanne later pivoted their clientele in 2008 to take a more philanthropic route with their agency. They now serve a diverse client roster that includes public education, municipalities, nonprofits and professional service providers. Beth said, “The work we do now is very important to us.”
Beth is proud to be a small business owner because it allows her to invent and reinvent while also being flexible and choosing her own path alongside her business partner. Small businesses are the backbone of the greater Arlington community so although BrandEra resides in Fort Worth, Beth and Reecanne have reached into the heart of Arlington and have created amazing campaigns. BrandEra offers brand development, creative campaigns, audio/video and collateral production, social media management, media buying, digital strategies, public relations and special event management.
