The Greater Arlington Chamber hosted the City of Arlington for the 18th Annual State of the City on Wednesday, October 25 in the eSports Stadium Arlington where Mayor Jim Ross delivered a comprehensive and uplifting speech highlighting the city’s remarkable achievements, ongoing projects, and future endeavors. Kicking off the City’s new fiscal year which began October 1, the Better Together theme emphasized the critical role of community collaboration and unity in Arlington.
With nearly 700 attendees filling the room, the excitement was palpable. The Rangers clinched the American league pennant and a spot in the Major League Baseball World Series just 38 hours prior to the address. Texas Rangers Executive Vice President of Ballpark Entertainment, Promotions and Production Chuck Morgan took the stage to celebrate with the leaders of our community and to introduce the Mayor. He did what only Chuck Morgan could do; he put into words the love, pride and the excitement this community has for the Rangers. He reminded everyone of how the City and the Rangers have partnered to do amazing things and bring big dreams to life all starting back with Tom Vandergriff convincing the Washington Senators to move to Arlington in 1971. Mayor Ross then entered the stage in a “World Series bound” Texas Rangers jersey with celebratory hands high in the air.
Once the applause finally fizzled out, the Mayor began his address. Public safety took center stage as he highlighted major investment into emergency services including the opening of Fire Station 1, the renovation of Fire Station 8, and the approved plans for a North Arlington Police station. He specifically commended the City’s decision to hire 95 new firefighters to enhance and protect the fire response teams.

Projects like Lincoln Square and Viridian are planning new developments in Arlington as well, bringing fresh life into the City. Medical City Arlington broke ground on their noteworthy $144 million expansion to enhance healthcare services.
