If you have been an active member at the Chamber for a few years, you may have met Laura Heymann through our Women’s Alliance group. She is a vibrant personality that leads all of our Women’s Alliance peer-to-peer mind shares. Although we love everything that Laura does for and with the Chamber, her marketing talents and digital communication skills are brilliant.
Laura has evolved throughout the years and for the past seven years she has worked with many different companies, and marketing directors to create unbelievable digital and print advertising. Her marketing company, Green Apple Lane Design, was created in 2016 after working freelance for six years. Her decision to pivot into the freelance realm was simply because she needed to adapt to the modern world.
When asked how she chose this joyful name for her company, Laura said, “Many people love our name and ask about its origin. Green Apple Lane is a real street in East Arlington where my grandparents lived when I was a little girl. Their house is where I climbed trees, picked vegetables in the backyard garden, helped bake Christmas cookies, and played softball with my cousins in a huge nearby field to the echo of cicadas.”
Green Apple Lane was a “Home of Creativity” which allowed Laura to fall in love with creating something out of nothing. These skills have helped her become a creative problem-solver in life and work. Prior to opening Green Apple Lane Design, Laura worked as an Art Director in the magazine industry. Her experience in that industry has allowed her to become a pro in not only the digital sphere but in print advertising.
While talking with Laura, we got some great insight into the industry and where it is going. She gave us some key takeaways for communicating and marketing to your audiences:
