Business Spotlight: Michael Devoll with American Outlaw Barbershop

In August of 2022, Michael Devoll made his vision come to life by opening American Outlaw Barbershop. Fueled by a desire to create a unique experience around haircuts, Devoll aimed to establish an environment where men could enjoy the process, feel comfortable, and become part of the community rather than just another client in line.

American Outlaw Barbershop offers a fresh take on the traditional barbershop experience. From classic cuts to stylish fades – and even the occasional venture into extreme designs – the shop caters to a diverse range of grooming needs. The services include classic cuts, fades, hot shaves, beard trims, color treatments, and even women’s cuts.

Devoll’s journey into the world of barbering began with an unexpected source of inspiration. Encouraged by his daughter’s observation of his talent while styling her hair, she suggested that he turn his skill into a profession. The rest, as they say, is history.

For Devoll, the true joy of having clients in the shop lies in providing a space where men can come together, engage in conversation, share jokes, and enjoy each other’s company while tending to their grooming needs. He believes that American Outlaw Barbershop serves as a haven where men can decompress from life’s stresses.

Devoll accepts the challenges that come with the territory of owning a business. Beyond his day to day in the shop, he actively engages in community outreach. For him, the freedom of being a business owner means he is always able to extend a helping hand without needing approval for time off. He values making a positive impact on the community through his role; he views success as more than just financial gain.

Devoll credits the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce for playing a crucial role in his business’s growth. The chamber has not only connected him with valuable business contacts but also introduced him to dedicated individuals committed to the city’s prosperity. Grateful for the support of people he has met through his chamber membership like Charles Brady, Michael Dailey, Jack Webb, Anna Leone, Matt Pryor, and Elena Thaxton, Devoll sees them as mentors in his entrepreneurial journey.

Before venturing into the world of barbershops, Devoll served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for eight years. His military background instilled in him a sense of discipline and dedication that now contributes to the success of American Outlaw Barbershop.

American Outlaw Barbershop shows appreciation for the daily sacrifices made by active-duty personnel, veterans, and first responders by offering discounts. Devoll continues to express gratitude for their dedication to ensuring the safety and protection of the community.

In crafting American Outlaw Barbershop, Michael Devoll has not just created a business; he has built a haven where the art of barbering transforms into a memorable experience, and clients become part of a thriving community.
