Toy Drive Provides Toys to Mission Arlington and SafeHaven

Mission Arlington / Mission Metroplex Executive Director Tillie Burgin along with Greater Arlington Chamber President & CEO Michael Jacobson loading collected toys.

It’s the most wonderful time of year, and members of the community are spreading the joy of the season. For the past two months, the Chamber and our Young Professionals partnered with the Arlington Professional Firefighters Association to provide toys to children in need.

Our successful toy drive would not be possible without the support of our members. We are sincerely thankful to all of the Chamber members who donated toys. The Chamber received many generous donations. A special thanks to Legal Draft for hosting the closing event of the toy drive on Saturday and the cash contribution being made to the charities based on the proceeds from Saturday’s successful event. Together, we are making sure that every child has a gift to open on Christmas morning.

Mission Arlington / Mission Metroplex along with SafeHaven will receive the truck-load toys to provide to local families in need. Every child deserves to open a present for the holidays, and the members of our greater community have helped make that possible. Both of these organizations make a difference in the lives of families every day.

SafeHaven is the largest organization in Tarrant County that provides care to victims of domestic violence. People fleeing from domestic violence often leave all of their possessions behind. However, SafeHaven’s Santa Sack store is bringing joy to survivors this holiday season. Santa Sack relies on donations and allows children and parents to choose special gifts for one another at no cost.

Mission Arlington is also working to make this holiday season magical for all families. The toys the Chamber collected will support Mission Arlington’s Christmas Store. Last year, Mission Arlington’s store provided gifts for more than 32,000 children from Arlington and North Texas.

“It is not a matter of just receiving. It is those who are giving that are truly blessed,” said Mission Arlington Executive Director Tillie Burgin.
