At the Arlington Museum of Art, you can expect more than just a gallery of stunning paintings. This museum has three stories of adventure that any future artist, or lover of art would fall in love with. From Art exhibits to yoga classes, this museum is a must to visit within Downtown Arlington.
Current Exhibits:
Quaintrelle
The Arlington Museum of Art strives to feature a diverse group of artists with perspectives highlighting different elements of life. They’re excited to feature the delicate and natural yet bold maximalist style of Eugenia this winter. The AMA is proud to know that Pardue’s works and artistic mission will be supported by the The Ford Family Foundation Award and the Oregon Commission on the Arts.
Oblivious Sensation
Christopher Rabb’s Artist Statement: “The title of this exhibition, Oblivious Sensation, comes from two of my favorite art pieces in this series, 12 Cent Oblivious Suspense and Amazing Sensation Universe. The title also represents my state of mind when painting or designing. For me, the act of creating art is an escape from the world, during which I become oblivious to my surroundings and become hyper-focused on the process. Patrons have said my work is “ambiguous,” this is true and intentional. I believe painting is like telling a story. Still, instead of using words, I have chosen to use images from movies, books, and comics. In doing so, I have abstracted the original narratives by removing the pictures from their original context.”
Dark Rooms:
While visiting the art museum, we found that there were a few dark rooms available. Located in the center of Downtown, this gives AISD and UTA students the ability to develop their photography within a short distance from campuses. This room has everything you would need to develop your light sensitive materials into perfectly printed photographs!
Summer Art Camp:
Summer Art Camp is held in the Education Center at the Arlington Museum of Art where the curriculum will include art mediums, skills and techniques related to the Museum’s current exhibit. The children will see the current exhibit with a docent led tour. Each class is instructed by a professional art educator from the Arlington Independent School District. Students will create a portfolio of work to keep and will receive a Museum artist t-shirt.
Art camp is $200 for a whole week of learning and creating art.
Art Classrooms:
There are three art classrooms that are at the bottom floor of the museum. These are often used for educational art events like fun art making classes with watercolor and chocolate. These rooms are also utilized during summer camp.
Yoga Classes in the main exhibit hall:
Join the Arlington Museum of Art in partnership with the Arlington Yoga Center for an immersive experience combining the tranquility of an art museum with the contemplative practice of yoga. Their classes vary with options of gentle yoga, sound bath relaxation, and Mommy & Me yoga! Registration for these classes is required.
