Dallas Jackals Inaugural Opening Day Surpasses Attendance Record for any 2022 MLR Match

The hype for the Dallas Jackals has been everywhere since they announced their home would be at Choctaw Stadium. Prior to the announcement that the Dallas Jackals would be coming to the metroplex, most of DFW had only heard of Rugby if they were in tune with European sports. The Jackals have truly made their impact on Arlington and the DFW area. They are the first professional Rugby team that has created a home within DFW and we are very pleased to have them located in the middle of our growing entertainment district!

With the hype, the Jackals expected a high attendance for their Inaugural opening day game, little did they know they would exceed the attendance for any 2022 MLR (Major League Rugby) match thus far. With a crowd of 3,152 cheering on the Jackals for their first home game of the season, each player played their heart out until the final second of the game. Although they did not win against their crosstown rivals, the Houston Sabercats, their skill and passion for Rugby shined through.

For most, this was their first experience seeing Rugby, but I think everyone who watched even a second of this game became a new Rugby fan.

If you are a little lost on how the game is played, click here. The Dallas Jackals website has graciously put up a Rugby 101 page for all of us that aren’t sure of the rules, how the game is played or the lingo of Rugby. The Jackals website also gives you information on the history of Rugby, the 2022 season schedule, and the team. You can even purchase your tickets and Jackals’ merch from the website.

Their next home game is on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022 at 7 PM, in which, they are looking forward to their first Inaugural win against Rugby New York. It is going to be a good one, so come join the Pack!
