It’s no surprise that Texas is one of the country’s leading states in job growth and economic development. In June of 2023, Texas hit record of adding more than 30,000 non-farm jobs across the state according to the Dallas Morning News. In June, the number of employed people in Texas reached just over 14 million which was the 28th consecutive month to show job growth for the state giving Dallas-Fort Worth the title of second largest year-over-year-increase in jobs in the country.
Private education and healthcare are leading the charge, according to the Dallas Morning News, adding 12,000 jobs to the market. Following behind is Texas’s oil and natural gas sector, posting 4,692 new jobs in June alone, totaling 13,696 active and unique job postings across the state (Dallas Morning News).
Recently, CNBC even called Texas “talent magnet”. With more people attending technical colleges and universities, our workforce is intelligent and highly skilled. CNBC ranked Texas second on their list of states that produce the best workers to hire.
Arlington is privileged to have collaborative educational institutions like the University of Texas at Arlington, Tarrant County College and Arlington ISD who not only have articulation agreements amongst themselves to ensure all Arlington students have a pathway to success and higher education, but also strive to meet the workforce needs of today and the future by engaging businesses in cultivating their talent pipelines early.
