Texas Health Resources Helps AISD Practicum Students Get Hands-On Experience

High school Students enrolled in the Arlington Independent School District have been given the opportunity to get real life experience thanks to Texas Health Resources.

Texas Health is giving upperclassmen a chance to have hands-on experience in hospitals by interning in various departments and units. The students are observing first-hand demonstrations and applying practical skills they have studied in the classroom.

Students are more excited than ever to be back in the hospital since the in-person practicums were paused during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This is the first year the students will be allowed back into the hospital post-pandemic. Students will spend double-blocked classes, two days a week participating in the practicum depending on their A/B block schedule. Fridays will be spent in the classroom going over lectures and coursework.

Patient care skills are vital to careers in the health industry. This experience allows students to get a head start on their career and research possible pathways for their future in health science.

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department helps prepare students with technical, academic, and employability skills. Through rigorous programs, students are engaged in courses that improve skills such as problem solving, time management and work ethic. These skills help graduation rates and prepare students for a seamless transition into the workforce and higher education.

Texas Heath Resources is an outstanding supporter of AISD and UTA students. They even offer scholarships for UTA students in health science related majors. For more information on scholarship opportunities click here.
