Special Congressional Election Day is Tomorrow, July 27th

Election Day is finally here in the special election for the seat in Congress representing the Texas 6th Congressional District. Jake Ellzey and Susan Wright, both republicans, will be on the ballot. Polls will be open from 7 am to 7 pm.  Votes may be cast at any election center in Tarrant County.  Click on the link below to see a complete list.

Congressman Ron Wright died February 7th after a long bout with cancer complicated by a Covid-19 infection. Tomorrow, after almost 6 months, we will finally know who will serve out his remaining term.

Twenty-three candidates squared-off in the first round of voting to replace Congressman Wright on May 1st. Ellzey and Wright were the two top vote getters in the first round. Although candidates identifying as Republican, Democratic, Libertarian and independent competed in the first round, two Republicans received the most votes, insuring the seat will remain in Republican hands.

Susan Wright, Congressman Wright’s widow, has been endorsed by former President Trump who carried the district 52-48 percent in the 2020 election. Jake Ellzey, member of the Texas House of Representatives, has been endorsed by former Congressman Joe Barton who held the seat for 26 years and by former Texas Governor Rick Perry.

Turnout is expected to be light.  Click here to see list of Arlington polling locations.
