National Medal of Honor Museum Celebrates Topping Off of Building

One of Arlington’s most highly anticipated developments is making significant progress, as the National Medal of Honor Museum celebrates the lifting of its final structural beam. The museum is one step closer to opening its doors and providing a space to honor America’s greatest heroes from past and present while featuring educational opportunities for all ages.

On July 20th, 2023, the museum placed the final beam in its construction and celebrated a “topping off” of the building. With several former National Medal of Honor recipients in attendance, the celebration featured merriment and excitement over the new development.

The “topping off” comes on the heels of another development in the museum, a Texas Education Association Grant of $15 million to support the further education of Texas students with the museum. The goal is to utilize the museum as a resource for students, bringing them in-person and providing online materials to further aid in experiential learning. This exciting advancement will give the museum a huge impact across the state and nation, while also improving learning opportunities for Texas students.

The construction is still underway, with the museum being scheduled to open to the public in 2025. With fewer than 4,000 recipients of the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest honor, the museum will celebrate the stories of those who have helped our nation through service, kindness, and so much more.

Not only is the museum big for education, but it will be hugely popular for tourism and economic development. With leaders from across the country expected to travel to view the museum, there will be a large boost to the hotel industry and other tourist spots in Arlington. The development itself has created jobs and given work to local Arlington businesses.

It’s always an exciting time to live in Arlington, but right now especially there are big projects that promise to bring even more work and advancement to the city. We are so excited for the further development of the National Medal of Honor Museum! For more information on the museum, click here.
