The Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Arlington ISD is excited to roll out the 15th annual “What’s Your Big Idea?” Entrepreneurship Contest. For the first time ever, this contest is available online! So whether your student is an on-campus or at-home learner, they won’t miss out on the opportunity to become the next great entrepreneur.
This contest gives your student(s) the opportunity to unleash their big ideas – imagine, create and invent a new product or business and make their mark on the world. All AISD 3rd -8th graders have the ability to enter into one or both categories: (1) essay, write about a new product or business or (2) art, create an advertisement for a new product or business. All high school students will have the opportunity to create a team and come up with an innovative solution to this year’s City of Arlington challenge! Your team will collaborate and pitch your idea in a 3-minute video.
Over the last 14 years, the “What’s Your Big Idea?” Entrepreneurship Contest has fostered the entrepreneurial spirit within tens of thousands of AISD students. Last year was a record-breaking year with more than 5,000 student entries and more than 1,400 student finalists recognized. Whether you are a parent or a teacher, we encourage you to incorporate it into the classroom or as an at-home project by working with your student(s) and challenging them to think Big! Use examples in your home to inspire innovative products or businesses that solve everyday problems. Help us TOP last year and set a new record!
This year’s student finalists will be recognized at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the University of Texas at Arlington’s College Park Center. But wait, the fun doesn’t stop there! We will be announcing our top three winners for each grade-level and category. Each Top Winner will receive a prize pack of goodies from businesses throughout the Arlington community. For all of our first place winners, they will not only receive the prize-pack, but a scholarship to attend an exclusive one-week entrepreneurship camp in partnership with our friends at UT Arlington’s EpicMavs.
