Chamber to Host Virtual City Council Candidate Showcase

City Council elections, normally held in May, were moved to November 3rd this year in response to Covid-19. Based on past election turnout, 5 to 10 times the number of Arlington voters will cast ballots in this city council election compared to the last two May elections. These new voters will need to get to know the candidates and the Greater Arlington Chamber is stepping up to help.

September 29th from 8:00 to 10:00 am, the Chamber will host 9 of the city council candidates who will be on the ballot at a public, virtual candidate showcase. The showcase will be broadcast on the Greater Arlington Facebook Live page and will be open to anyone in the community. The recording will remain on the Facebook Live page to be viewed by people who can’t tune in for the live presentation.

Candidates will be grouped by district and will speak in the order they will appear on the ballot. Each candidate will have about 5 minutes to make a statement and will answer questions for an additional 5-7 minutes. The questions will be asked by the Chamber moderator and some will come from the chat box feature on the live call.

These candidates have accepted the Chamber’s invitation to appear:
District One, (North Arlington): Incumbent Helen Moise and J.J. Fenceroy
District Two, (Southwest Arlington): Newcomers Raul Gonzalez and Jo Anna Cardoza
District Six, (City wide district): Newcomers Ruby Faye Woolridge and John Dale Hibbs
District Seven, (City wide district): Incumbent Victoria Ferrar-Myres,  Chris Dobson and Antoine Lane
