American Airlines and DFW Major Construction Investment To Bring New Visitors To Arlington

One of DFWs largest centers of commerce and attraction, DFW Airport, is undergoing a major transition that will accelerate our economic momentum. This past Tuesday, May 16, Fort-Worth-based American Airlines and the DFW International Airport signed a new 10-year Use and Lease Agreement, which includes $4.8 billion in pre-approved capital investments, including the construction of Terminal F featuring a 15-gate concourse, the renovation of Terminal C, gate expansions at Terminal A and Terminal C, and other significant modernization projects.

President Michael Jacobson notes to CBS that this projects creates a “roadmap to increase the number [of visitors] dramatically”, even referencing the recent news that Arlington will be hosting the World Cup in 2026.

“American is proud to call North Texas home, and DFW is our largest hub and a central gateway to our extensive international and domestic network,” said American’s CEO Robert Isom in the official press release. “American has led the growth that has propelled DFW to become the second busiest airport in the world and we are thrilled to finalize a new lease agreement and capital plan that sets the stage for American, DFW and the North Texas region to continue to grow for years to come.”

Growing at a rate of one person every four minutes, the DFW-Arlington metropolitan area welcomes this investment in our infrastructure. We’re the fourth largest metropolitan area in the U.S. and home to world-renowned entertainment venues and sports teams.

The greater Arlington community will directly benefit from this investment as we continue to see the massive influx of visitors to AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, Six Flags and so many others. With the FIFA World Cup in 2026 and the NCAA Men’s Final Four in 2030 (just to name a few), there are big advantages to having an updated and expanded airport.

This project also has exciting outcomes for Arlington businesses. From the physical raising of the new terminals contributing to more business for commercial construction and infrastructure companies, to the opportunity for more flights in and out of Arlington to grow and enhance businesses of all sizes, these renovations could not come at a more exciting time for the North Texas community.
