Women’s Alliance Cheers on Lady Mavs at Hoops ‘N Heels

For four years, the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce Women’s Alliance has supported Hoops ‘N Heels which coincides with National Women and Girls in Sports Day. Every year, this event brings women in the community together to empower one another. This year, the Women’s Alliance had fun cheering on the University of Texas at Arlington’s Lady Mavs and building relationships within the community.

“It’s really a chance for us to come together as women from all different areas of business and all different areas of the community and offer support,” said Dr. Jacquelyn Minor from the Women’s Alliance.”We want to show them from every angle that we are behind them because these are the women that are going to be in our community in the next couple of years as leaders.”

The UTA Lady Mavs treated the Women’s Alliance royally by welcoming us at the door with a Lady Mavs shirt, a goody bag and a delicious dinner. We had a fantastic turnout of 90 fabulous women. All of the women who attended heard some powerful words from Coach Krista Gerlich, who shared an important message about finding your passion and inspiring us to mentor and encourage the next generation of women in business.

“We had such an amazing turn out this year. Thank you for those who brought friends or met up with friends at the event or even made new friends. We want you to continue to do the same in years to come. As you know, I am all about women supporting women, and we need to continue to help each other burn the boats of insecurity and self-doubt and help build each other up as strong professional women. We are the Greater Arlington Chamber Women’s Alliance, you know,” Coach Gerlich said.

Gerlich continued by saying, “It truly is my mission for our young ladies to be surrounded by the wonderful women of Arlington and to be encouraged by the professional role models we have right here in our city! I am always so proud of my girls and I want them to get the opportunity to meet amazing women like you.”
