Why We Support the TCC Bond

The Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce supports the passage of the Tarrant County College 2019 bond issue which will not increase TCC’s property tax rate. Election Day is November 5th, and early voting will be held from October 21st to November 1st. The Chamber encourages a vote “for” the proposal because we advocate for policies that offer the greatest potential for successes to our business community.

Businesses are only as strong as their workforce, and Tarrant Country College develops the region’s talent pipeline. TCC has not held a bond election for 25 years, and enrollment has almost doubled since then. To continue offering quality training that meets the needs of today’s businesses, TCC requires the support of the community.

Tarrant County College educates the community and prepares its students by offering college degrees and workforce training. The goals of the TCC bond are to build and restore classrooms to provide over 200 offerings in different associate degrees & certifications as well as career training for nurses, law enforcement, emergency medical services (EMS), and fire-fighting. If passed, the bond would also help TCC offer skill-training in construction trades, culinary arts, hospitality, and manufacturing as well as offer opportunities for high school students to earn college credit.

While the Chamber advocates on behalf of the business community, we still encourage our members to participate in every election. Our mission to champion economic and community prosperity would not be possible without the civic engagement of our members. Voting also allows members to take an active role in protecting the future of their business
