UTA Celebrates Military Faculty, Staff and Students for Veteran’s Day

Yesterday was Veteran’s Day and UTA decided to take action! They are celebrating their faculty, staff and students who have served or are currently serving in the military. As the #1 ranked University for military vets by Military Times, UTA felt the need to show their appreciation for the community that these men and women have created on campus.

UTA’s communications, Herb Booth, wrote an article detailing the planned events to commemorate this community. This morning they had a Faculty & Staff Appreciation Breakfast from 8:30 to 10 AM. This event was to celebrate the staff members and faculty that served in the military.

The next event will take place next Friday, November 19th. They will have a Military & Veteran Service Showcase from 2 to 4 pm. This event will highlight the programs and services at UTA that are committed to serving the military community. This showcase will be in the University Center’s Palo Duro Lounge.

UTA has 2,000 students that are either veterans, active duty or members of the National Guard or Reserves. They have another 2,800 students that are spouses or children of veterans or active-duty military members.

James Kumm told UTA Communications, “When veterans walk into our office, we want to be able to help with anything they need. Whether it’s the Veterans Upward Bound program, Multicultural Affairs, Transition Programs, or the Lockheed Martin Career Development Center, you have to determine which program is right for which veteran student.”

As a Chamber member, UTA exemplifies community building and improving the lives of residents within the Greater Arlington area. We are so glad to see them commemorating military service men and women and giving them amazing academic opportunities.
