On Friday, March 25, Theatre Arlington kicked off its 49th season of live theatre!
After two years, Theatre Arlington returned with a bang to not only show off all the talent they have been hiding away, but the newly renovated theatre left the audience stunned before the show even began.
Their opening show for the 2022 season is Sister Act! The musical will be running through April 16 so you better get your tickets fast. The reviews for opening weekend have already claimed this show to be a must-see and that Theatre Arlington really hit the ground running.
“Sister Act has great music and is so much fun. I wanted to choose an opening show that required a diverse cast and has name recognition to bring folks to the theatre. I also like that most people have not seen the stage version of Sister Act,” said Steven D. Morris, Executive Producer at Theatre Arlington, when asked why he chose Sister Act to start off the 2022 season.
We often times see these incredible movies turned into mediocre stage plays or musicals, but Sister Act is one of the few that just got better with added musical numbers. Although you won’t see Whoopie Goldberg dancing around the stage, you will see some of the best up and coming actors in Arlington performing their hearts out.

If you are wondering why you should support the arts in Arlington, Downtown Arlington did a study showing the economic impact of eight arts organizations which included Theatre Arlington, Levitt Pavilion, Arlington Music Hall, etc. In this study, they found that the arts bring a lot to Arlington, whether that is through visitors, jobs or sales. The arts are important for the economic prosperity of Arlington.
