Texas State Rep Chris Turner to Speak at the Greater Arlington Chamber

State Representative Chris Turner will present his thoughts on the upcoming 87th Texas Legislative Session at the Greater Arlington Chamber Public Policy Advisory Council meeting on February 7, 2020.  Chairman Turner is the Chair of the House Higher Education Committee and Vice-Chair of the House Redistricting Committee.  He has been elected by his peers to lead the House Democratic Caucus.

Chairman Turner worked behind the scenes after the last legislative session to help UT Arlington get funding from the UT System to replace the aging School of Social Work building.  The building was originally the home of Arlington High School and was likely pretty old when UTA acquired it.

There will be time for some Q&A after Chairman Turner’s presentation. If you plan to attend, get some questions in mind that relate to our critical Chamber issues: transportation infrastructure, maintaining funding for HB3 school finance reforms, keeping all the economic development tools available to attract new capital and jobs to Texas, and Convention and Tourism promotion.

Chairman Turner’s district includes a large portion of east Arlington south of I-20 as well as Grand Prairie.  First elected to the Texas House in 2008, he has served continuously since 2012.  He is a life-long Texan.  Please plan to attend.
