When Texas Live! realized just how short supplied most blood banks in North Texas are this holiday season, they stepped in. This past Tuesday, Texas Live! held a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross.
On December 7, from 12 to 6 p.m. donors could donate their blood at Texas Live! in Arlington. In exchange for their donations, donors would receive a $10 Amazon Gift Card and a $25 Texas Live! Gift Card. Donors also were entered into a contest for a private screening of the new Matrix movie with 50 friends.
There was a decent turnout with most donors attending their scheduled appointment. Sadly, there were quite a few people who did not show up to their appointment. This just means that we need to continue to get the word out there that blood donations are at an all time low. The American Red Cross confirmed that this is the lowest their supply has been in over a decade. This is most likely a result of the Pandemic and the holiday season.
Texas Live! has made a wonderful example by hosting a blood drive at their business! There is so much businesses can do during the holidays to help our community.
