AISD Alum, Preston Nguyen, Announced for This Season’s Next Level Chef

After the Super Bowl on February 12, stay tuned to catch Arlington’s own Preston Nguyen on Next Level Chef! We are so thrilled that Martin High School graduate and former practicum student is finding success in the culinary world.

Nguyen is taking on the challenge and joining Gordon Ramsey’s team where he will be creating dishes under the pressure of alternating kitchen environments.

We have seen Nguyen thrive in the competitive cooking scene after he took home first place at the 2021 World Food Championship. The Chamber congratulates him on his accomplishments, we are so excited to see that his hard work and dedication are paying off big time!

The practicum program at AISD is full of opportunities for students to get hands-on experience in the workforce. Nguyen’s time studying with Aziz Kobty at Prince Lebanese Grill is one fantastic example of the success the practicum program can provide.

Through the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department, students are partnered with work experience and mentors that help students seamlessly transition into the workforce and higher education. Students are engaged in courses that improve problem-solving, time management and work ethic skills. When students apply what they are learning at school in the workforce we see them gain confidence and experience that will follow them throughout their career.

Since winning the Chef category at the 2021 World Food Championships and becoming the youngest winner of the Championship, Nguyen has participated in the 2022 World Food Championship Steak Invitational and Tarrant County officially proclaimed October 25th as “Preston Nguyen Day.”

Preston Nguyen has been documenting his success, culinary dishes and more on his Instagram, @theculinarycode.
