Patriot Day is a nationally recognized time in which we honor the memory of those who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001 attacks and the brave first responders who came to the country’s aid. We are proud to see greater Arlington coming together to recognize Patriot Day. Together, members of the community are thanking those who serve our community and country and remembering the legacy of those who we tragically lost 19 years ago.
The Arlington Field of Honor is just one of our community’s many ways to show its appreciation for our heroes. The Arlington Field of Honor is a glorious display of 911 full-size American Flags at Arlington’s Veteran Park. The symbolic flags honor all the military, veterans, firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel and others who make our way of life possible. This year, the arrangement will also recognize the medical heroes on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Every flag was purchased by an individual, company, or organization to show appreciation to the heroes in their lives.
The flags will be flown from Saturday, September 5 through September 12, 2020. The community is invited to view the patriotic display and reflect upon those who have made sacrifices for our freedom and remember the fallen. A ceremony will also be held at the Levitt Pavilion on Friday, September 11, 2020. The ceremony will be streamed on Facebook Live from the Levitt Pavilion in downtown Arlington beginning at 3:00 PM. Speakers will include Mayor Jeff Williams, Congressman Ron Wright and Joe Daniels, CEO of the National Medal of Honor Museum.

We had many Texans that signed up to defend this country and ultimately sacrifice their lives and freedom. I am blessed and honored to be a part of a community that won’t forget that,” said Jack Webb from Edward Jones.
“I was in high school when America was attacked on 9/11. I remember watching and rewatching all of the clips of that day, and I couldn’t do anything to help. That has led me to honor and remember all those who died in the attacks each year. Being a part of the Arlington Field of Honor is just one way for me to ensure we do not forget about that day or those whose lives were lost,” said David Curtis Co-Founder of HOPS HR.
The greater Arlington business community’s culture is about giving back, and it’s one of the reasons greater Arlington is a great place to live and work. “I think it’s just something we are supposed to do. There are certain things we feel connected to patriotism, veterans and things that honor our country. I think that’s what motivates me. We live in a community in Arlington that sees those as high priorities. It’s just an honor to be a part of a community that is willing and has those opportunities to give back,” Jack Webb said.
