GM Arlington employs nearly 6,000 people at their Arlington plant and serves as an economic staple in our city. They produce the entire lineup of General Motors body-on-frame full-size SUVs and are one of the centers of economic development here in North Texas. Now, GM Arlington is one of the most profitable manufacturing plants in the world!
In a new Reuters report titled “GM could reap billions by building combustion trucks and SUVs through 2035”, GM Arlington is “considered by some analysts as the most profitable manufacturing facility across the globe”. The GM Arlington plant alone has generated almost $25 billion in profits during the 2022 calendar year. Not only are they increasing profits and economic developments here in Arlington and across the globe, but GM Arlington has also been at the forefront of ingenuity in the automotive industry. GM Arlington’s new movement to produce exclusively zero-emissions vehicles by 2035 is the newest advancement that the plant has committed to.
GM corporate has invested significant amounts into their Arlington plant. Most recently, “GM announced new $500 million investment into the manufacturing facility to facilitate production of The General’s next generation of full-sized SUVs”. Since 2013 GM has invested $31 billion into U.S. manufacturing companies, and $2 billion of that has been to the Arlington plant specifically.
GM Arlington has also been committed to giving back to the Arlington community, not only in industrial evolution and employment, but also through charitable donations and grants. Since 2019, GM has donated over $880,000 in grants and donations to local nonprofits. Their commitment to excellence here in Arlington has allowed them to excel in our community.
This new label for GM Arlington as the most profitable manufacturing plant in the world will further add to the development of Arlington and the continued expansion of economic success here in North Texas.
