The Arlington community goes big for Christmas and Independence Day, but what about Halloween? A few Chamber members are changing the scene for Halloween in Arlington. The Arlington Historical Society and 3di Sign + Design have teamed up this year for The Village on Front. A spooky experience where you can learn about Arlington’s past while screaming your head off.
The Village on Front will run from October 3, 2019, to November 3, 2019. There will be a haunted maze, as well as many scenes that have lighting and sound effects, sure to scare attendees and leaving them with a desire to tell their friends about it. Tickets will be $24.99 per individual or $199.99 for groups of ten purchased in advanced. They are seeking volunteers for this haunted experience. Another way to get your spooks in this season is by going to Six Flags Over Texas’ annual Fright Fest. Fright Fest is back for select days starting September 21 through November 3. Voted the Best Theme Park Halloween Event in the state of Texas by USA Today readers, the theme park will transform and feature 20 chilling attractions, including four new attractions that promise to deliver about honoring and remembering the deceased. Enjoy thrills and activities for the entire family throughout the day, then come back for an evening of thrills and terror after the sun goes down. Ghouls are set free for their daily hunting rituals once the dark of night washes over the park.
If hauntings and frightening attractions are not for you, then you and your family will appreciate Pumpkin Nights located at Howell Farms.
Pumpkin Nights was founded in 2016 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds with a mission to showcase local artists and celebrate the most magical time of year without the gore and scares. Now, Pumpkin Nights runs throughout October in five different cities across the US. At Pumpkin Nights, you will venture along a half-mile walking path, where you’ll discover the Forbidden Pumpkin City, a pirate’s cove and more fantastical lands built using over 3,000 hand-carved real and artificial pumpkins. The fun doesn’t stop after Halloween because local residents will be celebrating Día de los Muertos.
Día de los Muertos originated in Mexico and is recognized November 1 through November 2. Although the holiday is often compared to Halloween, Día de los Muertos is not about spine-chilling scares. Instead, the holiday includes vibrant celebrations that honor the deceased. Dignity Memorial and Moore Funeral Home are hosting a Día de los Muertos event on Saturday, November 2, 2019, from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm at Moore Funeral Home on N. Davis.
