Between July 2021 and July 2022, the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro gained 170,396 more residents. In other words, the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro gained a new person nearly every three minutes. This has hugely positive implications for Arlington business. Our neighbor, the Houston-Woodlands-Sugarland metro, ranked second on the list with a population increase of 94,417 people between July 2021 and July 2022, nearly 40% less than ours according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Texas in general grew by about 470,000 people, with the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro contributing to 36% of the population growth. Home to four of the nation’s largest cities, Texas now has become the second state (only to California) to surpass a population of 30 million people. As mentioned by the Texas Tribune, much of this growth has been fueled by people of color moving into Texas. 95% of Texas’s growth from 2010 to 2020 was people of color, with the Latinx community powering nearly half of the overall growth.

This population increase in Texas, and more specifically in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro, will bring more diverse businesses and increased consumer spending to our community.
