Corporate Citizenship: General Motors Donates Over $160,000 in Grants to Various Projects in Arlington

General Motors is more than just an innovative car production plant. Over their 69 years here in Arlington they have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars back into the community, and been staple in job creation and economic development. The Chamber is focused on celebrating Corporate Citizenship, and General Motors is a fantastic example of that. Their history of giving is continuing to be written with their recent grant of over $160,000 to Arlington.

The $160,000 grant was a part of a larger donation of $3 million to various cities across the nation. Here in Arlington, the money will be allocated to six different grants, including a $30,000 grant to help provide free employment services to veterans at the Arlington Community Learning Center. The Community Learning Center has been an Arlington staple for over 90 years, and GM’s support has helped to expand some of their most important programming and courses. These employment services are beneficial to the reassimilation of veterans into civilian life.

But that’s not all, General Motors recently donated around $75,000 to helping build Dream Park in Arlington. Dream Park will give kids and adults alike a safe place to play and enjoy the outdoors right here in Arlington. The grant given by GM will be used to turn Arlington’s downtown railroad corridor into a park. This space will feature unique programming and physical equipment for everyone to enjoy. GM’s commitment to this community is evident through their consistent dedication to giving money back into the city.

General Motors is an iconic part of our Arlington community, continuously helping to build up our city while also stimulating the economy through job growth and philanthropy. Through these grants and donations, GM is providing resources to all members of our community, from children to veterans. ‘

For almost 70 years, General Motors has made a conscious effort to pour back into our community. Since 2019, they have donated almost $720,000 back into Arlington, promoting community growth. These grants are only a small part of their commitment to philanthropic efforts. We look forward to seeing what future economic development projects that GM will have a helping hand in to continue expansion and progress in the Dream City!
