Canales Furniture Receives The Ohtli Award

Last Week, the Membership Experience Team was lucky enough to be invited to a brunch at Canales Furniture. Little did we realize just how much of honor it would be to attend.

When we arrived, we found not only a brunch, but a ceremony that was taking place at the Canales Special Event building that is right next to the main store on Abrams Street in Arlington. The ceremony was to celebrate Canales Furniture as they officially received the Ohtli Award.

The Ohtli Award was presented to their CEO, Veronica Canales. This award is the most prestigious and highest award bestowed upon Mexican nationals living outside of Mexico. The word “Ohtli” is derived from the Nahuatl word meaning “road” or “path”.  This award is given by the individual Consulates, in this case, the Consul General in Dallas, Francisco De La Torre. The medal shows an Aztec god cutting grass, thus opening a path for others, showing the symbolism of an individual that aides positively to the lives of other Mexican nationals living outside of Mexico.

The Canales Furniture family is very proud that the leader of their family and company, their sister Silvia Veronica Canales, received the Ohtli Award. They said, “We are satisfied and fully committed to continue working for our community and this great mission that God has given us. This award only pushes Canales Furniture to continue our mission and to continue creating opportunities for all, especially the Hispanic/Latino community.”

This event was not only something spectacular to see but hearing how passionate each Canales employee/family member is for the company and the future of Canales was amazing.

Thank you to Canales for welcoming us with open arms. The Chamber is excited to see what 2022 has in store for you!
