Arlington ISD is continuously trying to get the community involved in their curriculum. Through their Practicum courses, business owners and community leaders can help train the future workforce. The Chamber has actively tried to find ways to bridge the gap between the district and Arlington’s business community through our Partners in Education (PIE) program. It seems that these efforts have been paying off this year since AISD received a lot of love from the business community while they prepared for the 2022-2023 school year.
Chamber School Supplies Drive
Before the school bells ring to signal the beginning of a new school year, the Chamber and State of the District attendees got to hear from Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos about all the amazing things happening at Arlington ISD and what the future of the district will look like.
The weeks leading up to this event, Chamber members and staff were collecting school supplies to donate to AISD. We had lots of members participate and had State of the District attendees bring bags of school supplies, the day of the event. With the help of our members, we got boxes and bags filled to the brim with school supplies.

AISD Back to School Kick-off
This year marked AISD’s 8th annual Back to School kickoff, where they pass out backpacks filled with enough school supplies to last recipients an entire year. This year with the help of our members they were able to offer other services like haircuts, dental checks, eye exams and immunizations.
400 students received haircuts at the event and Dental Health Arlington did dental screenings for over 350 students. It is always a joy to see our members help those in need, especially when it comes to our students. Dental Health helped these students feel more secure in their smile and will allow them to walk the halls with confidence.
CTE Training
As AISD continues to grow their practicum pathways, teachers need to be in the know of how to expand their curriculum as well. AISD provided more CTE training before the school year began with the help of a panel discussion with local businesses that work directly with the district.
Some of the businesses that were included on the panel were Prince Lebanese Grill, Bell, and Workforce Solutions. This group allowed for the teachers to figure out what skills they should be focusing on throughout their curriculum to help students have a seamless transition between high school and entering the workforce.
We appreciate just how many Chamber members work closely with AISD to get students as prepared in their chosen career pathways. The youth are our future and if we continue to show that we care about their growth and careers, they will become more driven to create a better future for the City of Arlington.
