A Few Words from our Outgoing Chair, Don Duke

I’d be remiss if I didn’t grab one last opportunity to share a few comments and say thank you to The Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce for the past year – our membership, our board and of course, our staff – it’s been an incredible honor to serve as chairman of the board.  Michael Jacobson, as captain of the ship, thank you for all that you do!

3 things to leave you with:

I’ve said on several occasions, innovation and compassion are the 2 words that frequently come to mind when I think of the year 2020 – which should be known as the year of the challenge. According to Google, Plato gets credit for the phrase “necessity is the mother of invention,” so I’m going to ride his coattails and add/substitute the word innovation. I tip my hat to those who are finding a way through it, around it, beside it or on top of it. As for compassion, thank you for giving it, and I hope it found you when you needed it most.

As a membership-driven organization, please remember that we are all on the membership recruitment committee, all the time. Growing our membership is key to our success. We have great resources to support this – all you have to do is ask the staff!

The November 3 election may be the most important election ever….but it’s particularly important for our Chamber as we have got to get Proposition A for Economic Development passed.  Endorsed by the board, Arlington needs this tool to be competitive and to be in the economic development game. Vote YES!

Together, We Succeed.

Don Duke, FY2020 Chair
