Join the Chamber Ambassadors for a Ribbon Cutting with Arlington Charities!
Arlington Charities is taking a fresh new approach to combat food insecurity in 2023. We’ve created an oasis on wheels and will be hosting Pop-Up Pantries in food deserts within our city. By mobilizing our mission to fight hunger, we will be bringing fresh, nutritious food into the economically challenged areas of our community.
As an outreach service to low-income households with limited or no access to large grocery stores, Arlington Charities is set to deploy an 18-foot vehicle decked out with huge, colorful graphics. The truck is equipped with a refrigerated cooler to store dairy and protein options with one side of the truck opening to display selections of fresh fruit, produce and bakery items. It will be a complete choice shopping experience.
In addition to the availability of fresh, healthy foods at Pop-Up Pantry sites; qualified clients will have an opportunity to receive other services such as nutritional education, assistance signing up for SNAP benefits, case management, and information referrals. Feedback from clients and community partners will assist in illuminating areas of need and drive decisions on future site locations.
As Arlington’s largest food pantry, we have been serving residents of Arlington and Tarrant County since 1978. We provide supplemental groceries to those facing a food crisis. All services are free to qualified individuals, families, and our homeless neighbors in need.
The Arlington Charities’ Community Market Truck Project is supported with American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds administered by Tarrant County.
We welcome all to attend to this exciting event for the debut of Arlington Charities’ new ride!
