SPEAKER: Caroline Chiaia with Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop
TOPIC: The Introvert’s Guide to Navigate Networking
DESCRIPTION: How do we get past our own mental roadblocks to put ourselves out there and represent our businesses when we would rather melt into the walls or hide in the bathroom? How can we get through networking meetings and not just be memorable, but reserve our social battery? This session shares practical lessons learned through real-world experience, including navigating social missteps and pushing through uncomfortable situations. It is designed to help introverts, and even those more comfortable in social settings, build social confidence, strengthen their networking approach, and develop a personal brand that feels authentic and sustainable.
SPEAKER BIO: Caroline Chiaia is the General Manager of the Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop in North Arlington. She has working in bakeries for the past 25 years starting as a grocery store cake decorator and building her skills to become a high-end cake decorator and then the manager of a pie shop. But more important than job history, she had a very traumatic childhood and has worked to conquer her personal demons to the point where she has become an icon in the Chamber of Commerce. While being an introvert is a protection mechanism from childhood, she has learned to reach beyond her personal comfort zone for the sake of higher goals and ambitions. These lessons were no school curriculum but the lessons of life and she looks forward to sharing those lessons with others who, like her, found networking to be mildly terrifying at the start.
