Here in greater Arlington, sports play a key role in our community. Starting this February, a new team will hit the gridiron at the renovated Globe Life Park. The XFL is bringing a new experience to football fans across North Texas. There are a total of 8 teams in the league including the Dallas Renegades right here in Arlington. The XFL’s new take on football will help strengthen the economic powerhouse that is our Entertainment District.
Now home to seven major sports teams, North Texas is known for its dedicated fans and athletic competitions. With the addition of the Renegades, Arlington is the center of it all with four teams, three of which play in our Entertainment District. Arlington can now advertise a comprehensive annual sports schedule adding even more entertainment for residents and visitors.
You are probably asking, “How will I find time to go to all these sporting events?” The powers that be in greater Arlington have thought that through. The Texas Rangers play March through September, the Dallas Cowboys play August through January. The Dallas Renegades play February through March filling the void in the calendar to help Arlington’s Entertainment District thrive year-round.
The XFL has made small but impactful changes to NFL rules that will result in riskier offensive plays and higher scores. This exciting take on America’s favorite sport provides a new kind of entertainment for the whole family. It also gives a home to players that want to keep playing post-college that didn’t make it in the draft. There are only 1,696 players in the NFL, and close to 11,000 in NCAA Division 1 football. The XFL allows players that truly love the sport a chance to achieve their dream of playing professional football.
“I’ve got all fifth-year seniors. All of these guys know how to play ball. They’re a bunch of good athletes.” said Renegades head coach Bob Stoops, “It’s going to be exciting and fun.”
The Dallas Renegades’ first home game will be against the St. Louis Battlehawks on Sunday, February 9 at 4:00 p.m. Single tickets are reasonably priced between $24 and $96, or you can attend all five home games starting at $100. If you aren’t able to make it to Globe Life Park on February 9, be sure to check out the season opener airing on ABC.
On February 1 from 10:00 a.m-2:00 p.m there will be a final party and fan rally before the Renegades take the field for the 2020 XFL season! They will have fun games for the whole family, plus coaches and players on-hand for an autograph session. This event is free and open to the public.
The Dallas Renegades are setting the stage in our community. They held the first practice in franchise history at Arlington High School on December 5, 2019, and also held an open practice at UT Arlington.
We are thrilled to cheer on the Dallas Renegades in their inaugural season. We are thankful for all of our sports teams that fuel tourism and help make Arlington the Entertainment Capital of North Texas.
