With Texas elections fast approaching, soon, all eyes will be on the lone star state. Due to its large population, Texas has significant power in the House of Representatives. Texas is also expecting to gain two or three seats in the U.S. House of Representatives as a result of the 2020 census data.
The stakes are especially high this year for Texas. This Texas legislature will redraw the voting districts that will last for the next 10 years. The entire U.S will be watching to see who will gain control of the House and who will determine the new voting districts.
It’s an exciting year for political campaigns. For the last 20 years, the primary elections have had a significant impact on the Texas House of Representatives and Senate. This year more action is expected in the November election. While the general election is not until November, now is the time to get engaged.
The last day to register to vote in the primary election is February 3, 2020. Early voting in the Texas primary elections begins February 18, 2020. To participate, you have less than three weeks to learn about the candidates and their policies.
In Arlington, HEB, Mansfield, Grapevine and the area served by the Northeast Tarrant Chamber, all of the Republican candidates for the Texas House and Senate are running unopposed. The only seriously contested local primaries will be to see who runs for the Texas House seat vacated by Jonathan Stickland and for the U.S. House seat vacated by Kenny Marchant.
On the other hand, many of the Democratic Party primaries have more than one choice on the ballot.
