It is Homecoming time at the University of Texas at Arlington, and students, faculty and alumni are coming together to celebrate and show their Maverick pride. All week long, UTA will be hosting events to engage students and alumni to connect them to the community including the annual pep rally, parade and street festival as well as the Distinguished Alumni Awards. You can learn more about all UTA has planned HERE.
Businesses play an active role during UTA’s Homecoming week. They participate in Decorate Downtown, which is a competition that pairs student organizations with a business in downtown Arlington to decorate. The community decides which business is the most spirited by voting on the Homecoming Facebook page. A Judges’ Choice Award is also given and announced at the Homecoming basketball game.
During Homecoming week, businesses are also encouraged to offer students discounts. Many businesses see the value in attracting UTA students and participate in the year-long Maverick Discount Program. To learn more or to become a Maverick Discount Program vendor, CLICK HERE.
While Homecoming week is filled with exciting and spirited events, it is also an opportunity to attract and retain students and alumni. The University of Texas at Arlington is a R-1 research facility that fosters innovation, research, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship. Working in concert with all of our educational institutions, UTA is shaping the future of greater Arlington.
The community benefits when students and alumni choose to live and work in greater Arlington. In fact, approximately 65 percent of UTA’s more than 220,000 alumni live in North Texas, and they contribute to UTA’s annual economic impact of almost $17.1 billion.
