The May municipal elections were big for many reasons. You could find several City Council and AISD Trustee seats on the ballot as well as Mayor and several City propositions.
City of Arlington Propositions:
- Prop. A was a proposal to begin a $219.5 million reconstruction project on streets, sidewalks, traffic signals, intersection improvements and construction of a new public works building. This proposal passed with a 69% to 31% vote.
- Prop. B was a proposal for the allocation of $24.6 million to Parks and Recreation which includes funding for Woodland West Park Aquatic Center, playground replacements, renovations on several parks and recreation centers, as well as construction on a new trail at Village Creek Linear Park. This proposal passed with a 63% to 37% vote.
- Prop. C was a proposal to use $30.1 million dollars to fund a North Police Substation, a new fire station and upgrades to police and fire facilities. This proposal passed with a 71% to 29% vote.
- Prop. D was a proposal to repair and update some of Downtown’s Administrative Buildings with a $3 million dollar budget. City Hall and the City Tower will be included in the repairs. This proposal was passed with an 11-vote margin.
- Prop. E was a proposal to use $1.1 million to upgrade library facilities and replace HVACs, roofs and windows. This proposal passed with a 64% to 36% vote.
