The June 13, 2026, local election brought Arlington voters to the polls to weigh in on a runoff for the City Council District 8 race. 

Arlington City Council
The City Council is Arlington’s primary legislative body, responsible for adopting the city budget, levying local taxes and setting policies and ordinances. Council Members represent specific districts within the city or serve at large and are the elected voice of the people who work to improve the well-being of the community, including economic growth.

Since no candidate received more than 50% of votes during the May 2 election, the top two finishers advanced to a runoff election on June 13, 2026.

Candidates: Jason Shelton, Melody Fowler
Winner: Jason Shelton – 62.79% of the vote (5,811 votes)
Runner-up: Melody Fowler – 37.21%
