Whether you love to spend evenings curled up with a good book or are looking for a fun activity for your family, we have an event for you! The Friends and the Foundation of the Arlington Public Library (FFAPL), is holding its annual Fall Book Sale Thursday, Sept. 17 through Sunday, Sept. 20. The book sale will take place at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library located at 100 South Center St. With a wide selection of books, puzzles, CDs and DVDs, the Fall book sale is fun for the whole family.
FFAPL’s annual book sales have helped the Arlington Public Library continue to provide meaningful resources and exciting events to the greater Arlington community. Book sales have raised money for the Downtown Library, renovations and annual programs like Summer Reading Club.
Mark your calendars for the following book sale dates:
- Thursday, Sept. 17, 2 to 5 p.m. – for current FFAPL Members and seniors (over 60)
- Friday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m: – Open to the public
- Saturday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Open to the public
- Sunday, Sept. 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Open to the public
On Sunday only, the Curbside Fiction Box Special will be available. Boxes will be $3 each, only cash will be accepted. Sales organizers will take the money and load your car with the boxes near Center Street’s loading zone.
Sale organizers encourage shoppers to please stay home if you aren’t feeling well or have a condition that doesn’t allow you to wear a mask properly. Only 85 patrons will be allowed into the sale at a time.
Shoppers will enter through the North and South entrances of the Library. Masks are required for all volunteers and patrons, per the Tarrant County ordinance. Sale organizers and volunteers will monitor social distancing. Tables will be further apart and markers will be placed on the floor to assist with social distancing. Shoppers will also be asked to follow the marked arrows and enter through the south door, and exit through the north entrances of the ReBrary room. Hand sanitizer will be available and high-touch surfaces will be wiped down hourly and between guests.
