The Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Arlington ISD is excited to announce the 16th annual “What’s Your Big Idea?” Entrepreneurship Contest. The “What’s Your Big idea?” Entrepreneurship Contest has challenged and empowered tens of thousands of students to think big and dream even bigger!
This curriculum-based contest encourages 3rd through 8th grade students to submit art and essays depicting their idea for a new business or product. There are so many ways to enter this year so whether your student is an on-campus or at-home learner, they won’t miss out on the opportunity to become the next great entrepreneur.
This contest gives your student(s) the opportunity to unleash their big ideas – imagine, create and invent a new product or business and make their mark on the world. All AISD 3rd -8th graders have the ability to enter into one or more categories: (1) essay, write about a new product or business or (2) art, create an advertisement for a new product or business. (3) Commercial art, create a digital ad for a new product or business. Submissions in Spanish are also welcomed!
As for high school students, they will have the opportunity to create a team and come up with an innovative solution to this year’s City of Arlington challenge! Their team will collaborate and pitch their idea in a 3-minute video.
As you can see this is a very extensive contest and we are going to need quite a bit of help along the way. At this stage in the contest, we are in need of volunteer judges to review English or Spanish entries. In the past, we have received over 5,000 contest entries and we are expecting even more this year.
It is very important that some of these volunteer judges are bilingual since this is the first year that we have rolled out the contest in Spanish. We are excited to spark the entrepreneurial spirit within native Spanish-speaking students and dual language academies!
Being a judge is an awesome opportunity to connect with the students in the Arlington ISD. You will team up to review contest entries in a particular grade and category to select our student finalists and top winner considerations! It is great insight into the minds of our community’s youth and what they deem to be of significant importance. If you are interested in participating, please fill out this Google Form.
