With the current influx of people taking advantage of social media as a news source to connect with their favorite businesses and brands, the Chamber would like to provide some user-friendly tips and tricks. While many people have a personal account for friends and family, Facebook is also a great tool for business and professional development. The Chamber wants to make sure everyone is able to stay engaged and informed, and Facebook helps us reach our members. We are going to show you how to follow and like pages, join Facebook Live events and access archived Live events. We will also update you on Facebook’s current COVID-19 Information Center.
Liking & Following Pages
Liking a particular page is the first step in hearing from your favorite businesses or organization.
First, search the company/organization to access their page, and click like and follow. The pages you follow will be added to your “Liked” pages, and you will be able to see when they post new content. You can also follow pages to get updates on your news feed.
Once you follow a page, (for example the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce), you can turn on notifications for it. That way you know instantly when that page posts an update or goes live.
Accessing Facebook Live Events (Before they air and when they end)
Facebook Live is being heavily utilized during this time. It has become a very valuable resource that many businesses are using to connect with their internal and external customers. The City, the Arlington Independent School District and the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce are all using Facebook Live to connect with people. If you turn on notifications for these pages, you can be updated when they go Live.
To access Facebook Lives, go to the page and scroll to the tab that says “video.” After accessing the “video” tab, you just have to wait until the page goes live. You may want to refresh the page once or twice if the video is not showing up once the Live event is scheduled to begin.
Once a Facebook video is Live, you will see on the left-hand side of your computer screen a red box that says, “LIVE” next to the video tab. If you already have it set up to receive notifications from that particular page, you will get a notification that the page has gone Live.
After the Facebook Live has ended, you can access the recorded video by going to the page and clicking “Videos.” There you will be able to access all of their past videos and Facebook Lives.
All of these methods of accessing notifications, videos, Facebook Lives and the latest information of COVID-19 are great ways to stay connected during this unique time. Facebook is an easy place to be inundated with false information, but Facebook’s COVID-19 Information Center is also proving to be a great resource with reputable news on what’s happening with COVID-19.
In a time where social distancing is becoming the norm, we can be assured that through these platforms, we are coming together digitally. We will only get through this together because Together, We Succeed.
