On March 13, Governor Greg Abbot declared a state of disaster for Texas because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This declaration coincided with Judge Glen Whitley issuing a state of local disaster for Tarrant County and Arlington Major Jeff Williams signing a disaster declaration for the City of Arlington.
With a rise of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Tarrant County and in neighboring Dallas County, it is important for businesses of all sizes to be informed. The Chamber is dedicated to supporting its members and offering information and resources in this uncertain time.
Recommendations:
All large gatherings of 50+ people are canceled
Gatherings with more than 10 should seriously consider canceling
Social distancing
Work in multiple shifts, if optional
Remote work
Offer flexibility for sick-leave benefits
Urge employees who feel sick to stay home
Clean and disinfect frequently touched areas (phones, keyboards, etc.)
Educate employees about COVID-19 and how it spreads (Visit Tarrant County’s website).
Practice good common hygiene practices
While we are a global economy and interconnected with each other, the recommendation is to cancel all nonessential travel at this time.
Discourage large group meetings, especially if they can be held via conference call, email, etc.
