From Leadership to Developing Leaders: The Key to Accelerating Success
In this session, Tony Brock presented Business Leadership Lessons: How Do We Develop Leaders?, in which we recognized that although a fundamental part of leadership is providing our team with clear direction and guidance, we can also help our people develop their own leadership skills by serving as a Coach.

In “Leader as Coach” mode, we serve as a guide and sounding board for the Leader. Our role is to establish trust and ask open-ended questions intended to guide self-discovery, widen perspective, identify issues, explore options, take action, and help hold the leader accountable.


Rather than giving the leader our answer to a problem, we help them develop the capacity to determine their own best next steps. Finally, Tony provided a 7-step “roadmap” for us to practice coaching as a way to further develop leaders on our own team.
