Award-winning entrepreneur, Kenya Mobley, is the owner of On Track Truck Driving School. She has made history by being the first woman to own a truck driving school in Arlington, Texas.
During her 2022 Inspired Women Luncheon speech Kenya said, “and let me tell ya’ll I never drove a truck before.” What we have learned from this statement is that as long as you have a passion for changing lives, you can create a thriving business or education facility.
After 10 years of owning a daycare, Kenya decided to open her own trucking school to help people in Arlington gain an advantage through specialized training. On Track has varied ways of educating students and class options that work with your schedule. On Track offers a 5-week program, and two different 7-week programs.
The 5-week program allows you to have as much hands-on experience as possible as well as helping you understand trucking within a classroom setting. If you need a more flexible schedule, the 7-week programs might be a better fit. One of the 7-week programs allows you to get the same hands-on and classroom experience, the only difference is that you would be able to attend on the weekends. The second 7-week program allows you to study virtually for two weeks and then get behind-the-wheel experience for five weeks.
These programs have truly been life-changing for so many people over the past three years. Kenya Mobley said around 30% of the trucking school’s clients have been incarcerated and those who have completed a CDL program have not returned to prison. As a Chamber, we are thrilled to see all that Kenya has achieved over the past few years. Her entrepreneurial spirit is infectious and we are excited to see On Track continue to grow and help even more greater Arlington residents find a new career path.
