The International Corridor has been all the talk in Arlington and Ben Thanh Plaza is one of the starring roles!
The City of Arlington has a thriving Downtown and Entertainment District but have you visited the growing International Corridor? Residents and visitors alike will not want to miss out on an opportunity to enjoy the diverse, walkable and economically prosperous Corridor. Especially with the wide array of grocery shops, Delis, gift shops and the many exciting events that happen at Ben Thanh Plaza.
In 1978, David Dang arrived on a boat from Vietnam to America. He spent some time in New York and owned a business while living in California, but when opportunity led him to Texas in 1997, he saw his American Dream truly unfold. “Arlington has opened its arms and welcomes everyone,” said Dang when talking about why he chose Arlington as his next business venture. After buying Ben Thanh Plaza in 2011, Dang was excited for a future that included owning multiple supermarkets throughout the DFW Metroplex including a Haltom City location.
While building out the plaza to be exactly in his vision, Dang wanted to make sure the structural design reflected Asian culture. The intricate design with the red and gold roofs truly exudes the beauty of Asian architecture. The final touches were made throughout the 156,308 square foot plaza and the doors were ready to open in 2015.
Located on East Pioneer Parkway, this plaza offers traditional Asian groceries, locally-sourced fresh produce and some of the finest selections of meat and seafood. You can also find delicious Asian cuisines in the food court. Dang is a perfect example of how working together can build up a community and help it succeed. In his American Dream testimony he says, “Together we can build a great city,” and that is the truth. We are truly better together and together, we succeed.
We highly recommend a visit to the Ben Thanh Plaza as you will not only be supporting local but you will also be supporting a lot of small business owners within the Plaza. It’s amazing to see how the International Corridor is growing and becoming more well-known to the residents of the greater Arlington area and we hope that this continues to help the area gain even more economic opportunities in the future.
