When COVID-19 struck, Arlington Urban Ministries received hundreds of urgent requests for rent, utility and food assistance. They were elated when friends from YourTees, Jered and Casi Kriewall, both born and raised in Arlington, reached out to tell us that they had created “We are all in this together #ArlingtonStrong” T-shirts and yard signs and would be donating 50 percent to Arlington Urban Ministries (AUM). Arlington Urban Ministries is overwhelmed by the love and support as YourTees raised almost $3900 in about 8 weeks! The support and love of YourTees and the wonderful Arlington community made a huge impact and helped AUM step up to help our Arlington neighbors affected by the pandemic.
Arlington Urban Ministries had to close our Nu2U Resale store for two months, which reduced funds available to assist those in need. They also had to postpone our Boots, Chaps & Cowboy Hats fundraiser from April to a virtual event on August 29, so funds were tight. Thanks to the amazing initiatives like #ArlingtonStrong and help from many other businesses and community groups, AUM has been able to continue to help those in need weather the storm.
