The Unity Council is a citizen task force created by the Arlington City Council to develop a plan to improve equity and inclusion and contribute to the elimination of institutional racism in our community. The Council plans two virtual town hall meetings, the first on November 19, 2020, the second on December 2, 2020, both at 6:00 p.m.
At these meetings, the 28 Council members will provide an explanation of their work and solicit input from Arlington residents. If you want to provide input to the council or just attend the meeting, CLICK HERE for information on how you can participate.
The full charge from the City Council to the Unity Council is:
- Gather community input on the need to use equitable measures to build greater equality,
- Study equity strategies that the City could implement to promote and encourage greater equality,
- Report findings and recommendations to the City Council, and
- Create an equity plan which includes strategies to eliminate racism and other forms of discrimination and to advance unity in Arlington.
